After receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree Cum Laude in Physics from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Carole Lane embarked on a path into the world of medicine. She resumed her studies at the University of Alabama School of Medicine, where she went on to earn her Doctor of Medicine (M.D.). While performing her studies, Carole demonstrated her academic abilities by not only graduating in the top 25% of her class, but also tutoring students in Undergraduate Physics during the first two years of medical school. Following her receipt of the M.D., Dr. Lane began a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama Medical Center at Birmingham, studying in the Heart Station for three months and being trained as an Echocardiographer (ultrasound study of the heart). She followed her studies with more postgraduate work in the field of Dermatology, becoming versed in the practice of diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the skin, scalp, hair, and nails. During this time, she developed an ability to effectively identify and surgically excise skin cancer. Today Dr. Carole Lane is the Vice President and a working Physician for the Lane Medical Group, based out of Monroeville, Alabama. A Practicing Dermatologist, she regularly diagnoses and treats conditions pertaining to the skin and soft tissue. She also puts her knowledge as an Echocardiographer to use, interpreting Cardiac Echocardiography, heart disease, and vascular ultrasound studies for Monroe and surrounding Alabama counties. In her spare time, Dr. Lane enjoys flying; she is a Private Pilot of a Cirrus SR22-G2. Lane is a member of Pilots for Christ, an organization that flies very ill patients and their families to various medical and health treatment locals.
