Since 2008, Dr. James “Jim” Murtagh, Jr. has lent his considerable experience to Fayetteville, Arkansas’ VA Medical Center. Specializing in pulmonary medicine, critical care, and sleep medicine, Dr. Jim Murtagh treats patients with a variety of chest and sleep problems. Dr. Jim Murtagh gained his clinical experience in a variety of esteemed hospitals and medical centers. Most recently, Dr. Jim Murtagh focused his efforts on sleep medicine, maintaining positions with sleep clinics, such as SleepCor Sleep Centers of Southeast Georgia, where he served as Medical Director. Dr. Jim Murtagh, a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, was additionally chosen by his peers to serve on the advisory board of the Boehringer-Mannheim Corporation in 1993. Dr. Jim Murtagh is an alumnus of the University of Michigan Medical School, where he earned his MD with honors in 1982. Upon graduation, Dr. Jim Murtagh began his residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital at Texas’ Southwestern Medical School. When he is not working, Dr. Jim Murtagh enjoys a variety of hobbies, including writing movie reviews, boating, traveling, and reading. Dr. Jim Murtagh particularly enjoys the works of Shakespeare, Dante, George Orwell, and Franz Kafka.
