Sam Wainhaus's Summary

Summary:

The realm of research and development of new drugs is a vital component to the advancement of scientific discovery. Dr. Sam Wainhaus identifies new ways mankind can benefit from advancements in chemistry and biology as Group Leader II in the Department of Exploratory Drug Metabolism at the Schering–Plough Research Institute. Dr. Wainhaus’ work is ultimately concerned with helping people live longer, healthier lives, and he has contributed to his cause not only through his work with the Schering–Plough Research Institute, but also through his scientific articles. On an academic level, Dr. Wainhaus has explored many areas related to drug metabolism. His writings on high throughput hyphenated MS techniques for pharmaceuticals, novel orally active ureido NPY Y5 receptor antagonists, activation energies for ion fragmentation by surface-induced dissociation, and mass spectrometry usage for drug metabolism studies have earned him the respect of his peers, while also furthering science. Dr. Wainhaus leverages his studies every day in his work for the Schering–Plough Research Institute. A graduate of New York’s Brooklyn College, Dr. Wainhaus received his undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and later attended the University of Illinois at Chicago for his Ph.D. Dr. Wainhaus is keenly aware of the value of community involvement, and in his spare time, he performs Commissioner duties for the Rockland Jewish Softball League.
