Layton Tamberlin’s first experience in the professional world of investment finance was in 1998. Merrill Lynch UK hired him as part of their Mergers and Acquisitions department and to work in Corporate Finance. He made important contributions to many top-tier investments and transactions, including such companies as Newsquest, Ardagh plc and iTouch plc.
In 2002 Layton Tamberlin left Merrill Lynch to take a position in a private equity firm, TDR Capital. He was intrinsically involved in the company’s transactions over the next 7 years, which included PizzaExpress, Pearl, Resolution and Williams Scotsman. TDR Capital’s IRR for these transactions was more than 70% in profits.
In 2009 Layton Tamberlin became the Chairman of Samedaydoctor, an innovative medical clinic that allows patients to receive treatment on a walk-in basis. The clinics, offering general treatment as well as specialties that focus on sexual health, have now expanded to include several locations around the UK.
